Office Progress

Well it has been I while since I blogged. I have been supper busy making a life and somedays just surviving. I am working as a designer’s assistant and I am so happy doing it. It has its stresses but I still love it. I also became a partner in a paint company and now sell American Paint Company brand chalk paint and I am enjoying working on that as well. I still do HR for my parents company and I also still am organizing for a lovely lady a couple times a month.  I can see why I have not a lot of time to blog and do house projects.
I think today I am going to share my office in progress. I love it, it’s getting there slowly, but it will be the best office ever soon. If you want you can see my thoughts on the office here. I got the cabinets in and realized they were not regular height. They are more desk height and I was more excited cause then I didn’t need to get new chairs and then my office really became free.

My amazing hubby helped me so much with this. I think he really wanted me to get a nice office so I would stay in it and not drag all of it to the living room.  We got to work right away. We started with the closet. It was not a bad closet but if you know me I love a good closet organizing system.

Some of the drawers needed to be fixed so I did that well hubby cut the 10foot counter top. Yes 10 feet of awesomeness. I can stretch out all my paper work and it’s awesome. As you can tell I love my office.

We grabbed an other counter from my dad. He had it in storage for a long time. It fit like it was meant to go in this room.

Oh it came a long really well. I was a bit worried it was going to be to big but I don't think so at all.
Then I filled I filled it all back up with all my goodies.
Needs a bit of work but it holds a tone of stuff.

For now it looks a bit busy for me but I am still loving it and I do stay in here with my work now. The best part of the office is the window. It lets so much light in and I can hear the birds singing away.
Well that is all for today. Thanks for reading my free office makeover. Stay tuned, you know it will change again.

NEW OFFICE !!!

Oh ya I finally got my office space I have been dreaming about for years. So we have decided to move our master bedroom down to the basement with the other bathroom. its like we have a master suite down there know more to come on that later. For the month of September just scaring the office, one project at a time.
As you all who know me I love a good before and after pictures, drum roll please.

I suffer bad from clutter blindness, well I think 95% of the world does. No wonder I was stressed working in here. Now I have a 6 foot window in my new office and the fresh breeze is coming in and just making me love life right now. I forsee a lot more work getting done in here.

If you ever have read the kids book, give a mouse a cookie, that is me all the way. If your going to move the ugly desk and cabinet upstairs empty you may as well give it a lick of paint. This color you may recognize from the frontdoor project ahhhhh I just love this paint. It was a mis-tint from Walmart and oh man it was so worth the $5.00 I paid of it. I love exteritior paint, it covers anything very well with a good hard finish if you let it cure for a few weeks. The tall cabinet is from a friend that was wanting to get rid of it so I grab it a few years ago. I think it was a microwave cabinet but it works sooooo great for all my office junk.If I was not a crafter I would only need these 2 pieces but I love crafting to. oh and I love my table my dad made me. Being 5'11" it is hard to find stuff that is tall enough for me to stand at.

still a work in progress but I think in a week this is good. I will show you my BEST part of this space. The closet!!!
well this is what it looked like before its little make over. hehe that is for another post. well that is all for today. Think outside the box sometimes you can make your small house work better for all members.

quick update

HAPPY VALENTINES DAY!!

I am getting massive cabin fever lately. Not to sure why, its very warm this winter here in the valley. today I wanted to tidy the house up a bit. I got roses from my honey today so of course I LOVE!!! mason jars and yellow roses. I changed the front door area for the 100th time in the last 3 years this fall. I LOVE the cabinet so much. Its crazy how much stuff you can fit in this thing.

Such a breath of fresh air in the winter days!!

I got the runner from Wal-Mart 6+ years ago. I had a few of them. I had standard file boxes (yuck!!). I took one runner apart and hot glued the fabric to the boxes. Love this idea for large cheep bins. The bins hold all the winter stuff and shopping bags.

I took some name badge tags Velcro and tossed in some paper and a label bamm done. This whole thing took me no more then 40 mins with covering the boxes.
Go and as some freshness to your space.

Dinning room hutch organised

Good morning, It is so early here(5am). Hope your summer is as great as mine,I just love summer. So I will try and stay on topic today but I have so much to share with the blog world. I will start off with Back to school. (insert the most wonderful time of the year song here). With the best time of year it is also crazy busy, still trying to have fun but also get back to a schedule.
I started by organizing the dinning room. With Red starting grade 3 and mm starting kindergarten this will be a big hub of the house. If you didn't read my hutch makeover post you can.here
Let me show you how you can take the biggest thing in your house and use it well.

I think this is my favorite thing in my whole house, besides the people I guess. I am standing in the door way of our kitchen taking this picture. You can see the kids backpack station in the corner. It has been in operation for over a year and it still works very well. You can read my small post here on it.

Drawer #1 is the kids drawer. The cabinet came with the sliding tray built in, It works great. I want to build a few more around the house in other tall drawers. This drawer only holds school work books and one coloring book for each kid. There is more downstairs in the craft room. I like to keep this space super simple. I find with kids and sometimes me as well, if you complicate something it does not stay organized. We also have bins in the craft room for extra school supplies and stuff if we need it.

Drawer #2 is my drawer. I don't need a lot of stuff in here. I just use it for  storing some office stuff , bill paying things, note books, and my awesome sharpie collection. HEHEHE I have a problem. I got the tray from Canadian tire and  I love it.

Drawer # 3 is dinning room stuff I guess. Table runners, napkins stuff like that. Sometime I store candles in here at Christmas.

The 2 side cabinets are very large. One has the can recycling and the other houses my binders for the house and the all in one recycling. We are little spoiled in the valley in that we don't have to sort our recycling we just blue bag it and leave it in the alley every 2 weeks. I have a bin at the bottom of the stairs that holds the flattened cardboard that cant go in the bags. So I don't forget to put it out I set a reminder on my phone that goes off Thursday afternoon so I can toss it out side for Friday pick up.  The white basket is the shred bin. Very self explanatory but I just toss in important paper ie visa recites bank stuff I don't keep that kind of stuff and when it gets full the kids and I take it to the shredder in the craft room or my sweetie burns it in the fire pit.

One day I will share how I organize my binders, but there is so much very very personal information in them that I don't think I want on the internet. Well for now that is all for this project. Not to crazy.
How do you get ready for school? Were do you put all the kids stuff that you don't want to see 24 hrs a day?

Till next time have fun and think outside the box.

Winter decorating on a budget

So winter is here, full tilt. I don't buy or do anything Christmas related till nov 12, in honor of Remembrance day. So by midnight on the 12th I am usually itching to get started. This is my Favourite season. Don't like the snow and cold, But when my house smells  like cookies and looks so magical it makes me super happy.

So I started some small decorating yesterday, with some super cheap decorations. I was at Wal-Mart and wanted a nice fun wreath this year, but my budget for decorations is always $20.00 a year that's it. I like doing that way so I don't end up having to find storage for all the stuff for 10 months of the year. Last year I got a huge box of balls from the thrift shop for $3.oo. I use them to fill my vases around the house. It is the easiest way to decorate and CHEAP!!!!

My Brother in law gave me the vase a few years ago for Christmas and I think it is my favourite thing in my house. I love that it changes seasons and colors with me. the candle holders he also gave me. They are filled with sand and shells 10 months of the year but for winter I put that sand in a bag and toss in some Epson salts, peppermint oil and some glitter from the dolor store. The kid always ask how I make the snow not melt.

Next I made 2 wreaths

This one the kids helped me to make with a bunch of plastic balls. I got a wire coat hanger and bent it into a circle, slid the balls on and then I connected the wire back together. Tied a ribbon on to hang from the door and tossed on a big ribbon from my last year stash of bows. I have a thing with teal and olive green I LOVE IT!!! the dollar store had a 3 pk of birds in my colors for a $1.00 each pk. yaya I just LOVE a good deal. The only problem I had with this one was my screen door got in the way so I have to find a different spot for it.
With that one not fitting in between the doors I had to go to plan B. so out came another wire coat hanger and some décor mesh from the dollar store, some more birds and BAM!!!
A wreath that cost all of $3.00
I really like this one. You can really see it from the street its a brighter green then in the picture.

Well that is all for today but the day is not over I just might think of some CRAZY idea before bed.

What cheap decorating ideas do you all have? have you ever tried not to buy more decorations and just use the old ones in a new way?  Look around your house and see what you got before adding more clutter and things.

Happy decorating
