quick update

HAPPY VALENTINES DAY!!

I am getting massive cabin fever lately. Not to sure why, its very warm this winter here in the valley. today I wanted to tidy the house up a bit. I got roses from my honey today so of course I LOVE!!! mason jars and yellow roses. I changed the front door area for the 100th time in the last 3 years this fall. I LOVE the cabinet so much. Its crazy how much stuff you can fit in this thing.

Such a breath of fresh air in the winter days!!

I got the runner from Wal-Mart 6+ years ago. I had a few of them. I had standard file boxes (yuck!!). I took one runner apart and hot glued the fabric to the boxes. Love this idea for large cheep bins. The bins hold all the winter stuff and shopping bags.

I took some name badge tags Velcro and tossed in some paper and a label bamm done. This whole thing took me no more then 40 mins with covering the boxes.
Go and as some freshness to your space.

Pantry organised!!! Finaly!!!!

 CAUTION TUPPERWARE OVER LOAD

Welcome to the never ending pantry makeover. Three years ago we moved to this house. It was a house that had a pantry, granted not a big one but it had one. That march I started my dream of getting modular mates for the pantry. To stay on budget I started sell Tupperware, I have to say selling Tupperware is awesome. I really didn't think I would enjoy it this much...ha who am I kidding, I LOVE IT!! with a limited house budget I was able to start selling right away, thanks to my good friends I did well. I haven't done a party in over 2 years. I really don't need to Tupperware sells its self with there great warranty and product. well enough with my obsession. On with the pantry, 3 years in the making.

When we moved in the pantry was ok. I hated the doors. If you notice in past blog post no closet doors. only the linen closet and that is only cause my husband will not let me take them off. I took the doors off to paint the green and never put them back on. I love it!! its easy for the kids to put stuff back and it flows well with the kitchen. I am hoping to get over the fridge and stove doors painted in the next week. It will help in not making it look so busy.

These picture are all "in progress" pics over the years. This pantry has some road bumps if you may. Its so stinking deep its 17" deep and 19" wide, and the shelves don't move. I have looked on pintrest for 100s of ideas but I could never find the exact problem I faced or the budget I had.

Now for the finished product. OH I AM IN LOVE!!!!

It is organised very basic. In my life simple is best. The kids know were stuff goes and Red knows how to read. Its one of there jobs to fill the bins when we come home from our shopping trip.

The Breakfast shelf is very self-explanatory. In order to not " loose" things in the back I have a regular ovals mm with oats extra toast stuff chocolate milk syrup in the back. Then up front I have the "everyday " stuff . A box of cereal will not fit well on the shelf so the Tupperware cereal sorters work great. I also love them cause the kids can make there own bowl with out the bag falling out of the box. ugh I cant remember how many times Red lost a whole box on the floor.

Lunch / snack shelf,  also really no explaining needed. in the spot is just a bin from the dolor store that holds fruit cups and granola bars stuff like that. It works well.
Pasta shelf and extra chips for mm Birthday next week.

I also switched out some stuff in the baking cabinet and I also love it.

There is a lot of stuff in both these cabinets. You can also find past post about my always changing kitchen.

thanks for reading!!!

laundry room makeover.

Good morning!!!!! Well this was a awesome week. Got lots done, a few friends had babies. All around it was good till today and i woke up with a cold booooo!! But lots of tea and bloging will make me better in no time.

The last week i have been redoing my laundry room. With Christmas it just got away from me. So good thing a bowl full of lemons had that on her 14 week organize your house that i am following. On with the pictures. Well lets look at the before eeeee it scary. No wonder i was falling behind it was a mess.

When we moved to this house 3years ago the laundry room was in need of help bad. We were planning on redoing the whole basement so i was not going to do anything till we had done renos. Well a year in the house nothing happened  so i painted it a miss tint i had got for $5, cant go wrong with that. It worked well.

I am a person that gets tired of colour easily. So i wanted a change badly. I sent the kids to school and headed to Canadian tire for my paint. I love the lady there super friendly and and she likes my colours. Lol. I came home ready to do this job. I cant be any more happy with how it turned out. I have been doing laundry all morning and its just a dream to be in. Are you ready.

Pictures don't even do it justice.  Its so bright. I was a little worried putting the colour on the walls but i love it now with all the stuff back in.  Laundry rooms always have clutter i feel. Plus i don't have a cabinet to keep laundry stuff in so everything that is in here has to look nice to me and easy for putting away.

I got super soiled by my amazing dad.  I gave him the measurement's i needed and he had some wood in his garage. Its perfect i just have to decide what colour i want to paint it. The plans you can find on my top fave website. Anawhite,  i love all the stuff she makes.

Red and i made this it was a sign i had got from the thrift shop for .50 cents. Mm has already matched a bunch of socks that i could not find. That is one of his jobs for the house.

People that really know me know i LOVE!!!!!! pegboard. In the laundry room our water lines are in the middle of the wall. I carfully put pegboard over the line to make the wall way better. To make it look good i did a quick stencil i got at walmart a few months ago. As you can see i colour code our hangers, yes crazy but they look so good in there closets. The kids clothes get hung up well about 90% of it. You can read a small post about that here .

One last quick and cheap thing i did was a dolor store run. For $10 i got tins thst are ment for the kitchen but they dont seal at all but i just love the look of them. So grab 3 at $3 a each amd a pack of chalkboard lables 6 for a $1. They are perfect, for now you never now if they mught get hit with some spray paint in the spring.

Wall colour is tropical paradise from CIL real life.

Well i think that is all for today. Well off to do more laundry. Yaya

Happy organizing!!!

kitchen tour

Oh it a good day here in the valley. Its a very nice fall day not sunny but not cold just the way I like them. So after a load of questions being sent my way on how I keep my tiny kitchen organised. I have taken the time to take pictures of the cabinets and share my favourite tips.

I just painted the kitchen, you can read that in my last post. This post is about the practical stuff, the down and dirty stuff., ha-ha well not to dirty. Are you ready for picture over load.
 I love pictures.

ok I start any organising project with how you use the space. For a space to stay organised  you have to be able to put stuff back fast and easy. In the fast paise of life i don't want to be moving things around to get to the things i need everyday plus i don't like cluttered counters. I do someday live in my kitchen. I love to cook, maybe even more  then i love to eat.

we will start in the far corner. Its my baking central station. Its a family love, My family are professional bakers. I am more of a cake decorator but I do love to play around someday. As you can see, selling Tupperware in the last 2 years has really helped my cabinets get organized. oh its so freaking sexy!!!!!  so this 2 foot area is PACKED with everything for baking.

The drawer under my mixer is also packed, it is so big!!! LOVE  so my scoops and measuring cups are in here. (also they are Tupperware) yes i have a problem

Under the drawer is baking stuff too, well not all of it .I do have some big pans and cake takers in my pantry downstairs. Post to come on that. I love large Ziploc bags for stuff so i always have a  box there. A cereal sorter keeps a whole 4 kg bag of sugar and keeps bugs out. eeewwww I keep my egg cooker down here oh that thing is a hard worker in this house. I love shoe boxes too.. a lot! so in the far back one the holds my stuff from my tw choppers and the other holds my mandolin accessories. I love doing this way one because i just grab it toss it on the counter use it clean it and put it back. Second  it does not take up any drawer space. If you haven't figured it out yet I LOVE CONTAINERS. The cabinet only had on shelf when we moved in so i bought one tossed it my muffin tins and loaf pans stuff that is thin on that shelf. The other bin has some manuals that I like having close at hand.

NEXT I love having a sandwich press but it so big and its so heavy if i was to put it down stairs i would never use it. I got lucky that it fit perfectly between the drain pipe. my Fryer also fit perfectly between the drain. I love the use of this space, It is a waist of space other wise. I got my drawer rack from home hardware i think its the most i have ever spent on a organising thing a whopping $35 yes  i am cheap. All my dish clothes and towels fit in there YES!! ALL of them I have 8 of each i feel even 8 is much. i do towels twice a week (stinky towels eewww) so i really never run out. I also keep my sink cutting board from ikea here. I only use mr clean and Windex all the time in the kitchen that is what is in the purple bucket. On home blessing day I grab it and go clean everywhere.

This is over my sink. Blue basket holds microwaveable tw.  Then food storage. Then medications. i don't like it in the bathroom and really for some reason it always ended up in the kitchen anyways.

The dish cabinet the most used cabinet in the house.
It hold every thing "drink". Tea and  hot coco the kettle everything to make a good cup of joe. I like having everything in one spot for 2 reasons 1 is that I know were it all is and 2 I don't buy doubles of things and i can see when  I run out.

on to the other side of the room. ahhh look at those wonderful shelves. Cant wait till my chalk board is done. Oh and my rocketfish stereo LOVE (thanks mom and dad and brothers )

first cabinet is well just food prep stuff. I have a thing about toasters in counters. Maybe one day when I have more counter space it might not drive me as crazy. But for know i have it here with a tray under it. this cabinet use to be a sink cabinet. cant complain for a $1. The biggest problem it is so wide that I could not get shelving for it. I got a shoe rack that fit perfect. Lunch kits and more TW. I love magazine holders for so much more then just books. They work great for the bowl lids. and my cutting boards hang on a small coat hook on the door.

the utensil drawers . pretty basic stuff here. My grater goes in here to but is dirty. Every thing has a home. i love measuring spoons lol i have 3 sets. that is the one thing I will let clients keep lots of, well max 3 sets.

This cabinet shared in my back to school post

ok and beside the stove
there was only one cabinet here when we moved in. My dad made these for me for Christmas. I LOVE them they hold lids in one and the other is cooling racks and cookie sheets. Its important to have every inch in a small kitchen use to it fullest.

Then the pantry
This pantry makes my OCD a little nuts but its getting there. ahhhh red modular mates I love you!!!!

so that is my work in progress kitchen. This is not the last you will see of this room. Now i get to cook dinner in it right now before the man gets home from work.

I challenge you to find more space in your kitchen. Think out side of the box!!!
thanks!!!!!

Dinning room makeover

Good Day to you all. The sun is shining for now and all the snow is gone for now. Lets hope it stays this way.
So I am here today to share with you a project I did over the weekend. I really could not be happier with it. It is exactly what I was looking for.
Lets start with some before pictures . OH it was nasty ugly.

Part of me was a little sad that some poor person cross-stitched the seat covers but man they had to GO. I scored it from our local thrift shop that helps support our hospital. So for a $125.00 I saved this from the dump and I helped out our community. WIN WIN in my books. So now the real fun begins. So It did have some water damage on the top of the table. So out came my trusty sander and I went to town sanding the top and sides I had to use my hands to sand the scroll work but it worked good. Then gave the whole thing a wash with some safe prep AKA TSP.  If you don't wash it with the TSP I find that the paint will not go on smooth.
Next I just went to town painting it. I had some paint left over from my dresser redo. This paint is amazing if you leave it to sit for about 4 days my kids can trash it and it does not chip as bad as some paints I have used. The set came with 6 chairs for know I only painted 4. The other 2 I have another project  to add to the set. Well the paint was drying I recovered the seats in fabric I have had kicking around and matched it like a T.

OH this had to be the biggest transformation I have ever done. PURE LOVE!!!!
The fabric is so great to hide the mess kids bring to regular life. This is our only dinning room it is used at least 2 times a day not to mention it is our homework area.  So are you ready for it?  I hope you are siting down because ITs BIG!!!

the inside is our trim color. I figured the grey inside would be a little to much.

Yes I painted it right in my dinning room. Crazy I know!!

Spray paint the hardware. I love chalkboard spray paint. Seams to be the best for durability.

WOW!!!! I AM so I love.

I really want to find something like this for the back, but a roll of wrapping paper will do for now.

All filled up with all our special stuff. This makes my heart so happy. Now every morning I can have my coffee and look at my hard work.

You can find out what is stored inside soon.

So shop your house for furniture and redo it to fit your décor better. Go bold it really is just paint.
BE CRAZY!!!

Till next time. Have fun and live a little crazier.

PS. the paint is Valspar Signature color semi gloss finish paint and primer in one.
